Pulley’s recommendation engine will sometimes give you a list of customers to exclude from your ads. Here’s how to go about it on Google Ads and Facebook Ads.

Add A Custom Exclusion List To Google Ads


Step 1: Download the list from Pulley’s opportunity page.

  • Visit the “Opportunities” page.
  • Click on “Review Action”. 
  • Click on “Export Customer List” (as shown below).


Step 2: Create your custom list on Google Ads.

  • Log into your Google Ads Manager account.
  • Click the “tools” icon on the top right corner of your screen.
  • Click on “Audience Manager” (you can find this under the section “Shared Library”).
  • Select “Audience Lists” and click on the “+” icon.
  • Select “Customer List” and then “plain text data file”.
  • Upload the new file and your new list should be created. Note: Depending on the size of the audience you upload, it may take from a few minutes to several hours to complete the process.

Step 3: Exclude your newly created list from an ad group or campaign.

  • Visit the section called “ Audiences”. 
  • Click on “Exclusions”. 
  • Select whether you want to exclude the list from a “Campaign” or “Ad group” from the drop-down. 
  • Use the search functionality to find your newly created audience.
  • Click “Save”. 

Note: this is also a chance for you to review if there are other audiences you would like to exclude from your ads, such as employees of your company.

Add A Custom Exclusion List To Facebook Ads

Step 1: Download the list from Pulley’s opportunity page.

  • Visit the “Opportunities” page.
  • Click on “Review Action”. 
  • Click on “Export Customer List”.

Step 2: Create your custom audience on Facebook Ads.

  • Log into your Facebook Ads Manager account.
  • Under the section “Audiences”, select “Create Audience”.
  • Choose “Custom Audience” and then “Customer List”.
  • Select the Pulley file to upload.
  • Enter a name for your new audience that will be easy for you to remember.
  • Click on “Upload” and then “Create”.

Step 3: Exclude your newly created list from an ad set.

  • Visit your specific ad set in the editor view.
  • Under the “Audience” section click on “Exclude”. Note: you can locate this right underneath the box for “Custom Audiences”. 
  • Search for your newly created list and select it.
  • Click on “Save”.
